Moderation & community standards
Every game on Upload Arcade is reviewed before it goes public. Here is exactly how that works and what we hold every submission to.
Two layers of review
First, an automated scanner reads your file the moment you upload it. It checks that the file is truly self-contained and fits the rules of our sandbox — no external scripts, no network calls, no forms, popups, or navigation tricks. This is fast, transparent, and reported back to you as explicit PASS / WARN / FAIL findings.
Second, a human moderator reviews each submission before it is published. The scanner catches technical problems; a person judges whether the game is what it claims to be, works as described, and meets the standards below.
What gets a game approved
It runs as described and is genuinely playable. It is your own work or you have the rights to publish it, and you have told us the truth about its license, source, and any generative tooling used. It is clearly labelled and doesn't try to deceive players or reviewers.
What gets a game rejected
Malicious or deceptive code of any kind. Content that is hateful, harassing, or sexually explicit. Copyrighted characters, art, music, or code you don't have rights to. Attempts to phish, track, or exfiltrate data. Spam, placeholder submissions, or games that exist mainly to link elsewhere.
Rejection reasons are specific
If a submission is rejected, you get a concrete reason and, where possible, how to fix it. You are welcome to fix the issue and resubmit. Repeated bad-faith submissions may lead to a ban.
The sandbox is non-negotiable
Approved games run in an isolated frame with no network access and no access to this site or its players. Anything that requires breaking out of that sandbox — external requests, storage on our origin, popups — is by definition not a fit for Upload Arcade.
